SignRadar.com is the first social media service designed specifically for those who communicate using sign language. SignRadar is a location-based social media site that meets the special needs of the sign language community. Our goal is to allow our users to answer the question, “Who near me knows sign language?” anytime, anywhere!

SignRadar.com mobile services enable sign language users to post location-specific messages (including YouTube video and photos) privately and securely, chat, find resources, and seek employment based on their zip code, city, or county. SignRadar provides an opportunity for users to meet other sign language users in a new environment that breaks all barriers to communication within this community. Further, the SignRadar app enables users to subscribe to an area for messages or to follow other users for the latest social updates. Our goal is to keep the users connected to each other at all times.

More importantly, SignRadar enables those users who only communicate using sign language to meet new people in new environments. Imagine that a deaf person who only communicates using sign language is stuck in an airport because of a 10-hour delay due to bad weather. Now, imagine that five other deaf persons in the same airport . How would they find each other so they can spend the time together rather than alone? Today’s popular social media will not help because most are not location-based. For example, “Meet up group” is not helpful here due to the circumstances (in the airport) and length of time. Moreover, some of those meet up groups have not met in months or even years! However, with the SignRadar app, our stranded users can find each other and have a rich social interaction, because SignRadar is a location-based social network designed especially for them.

Alternatively, imagine that someone who only communicates in sign language wishes to purchase a house in a new area. How could s/he find a real estate agent in that area who knows sign language? Currently, the only way is through word of mouth. With SignRadar, however, it is as simple as posting a message in the desired zip code, or chatting with someone in the same area who can make a local referral.

Further, SignRadar provides a way for employers who want to reach out to the sign language community to post their jobs based on zip code, city, or county. A business owner who employs someone who knows sign language will likely see an increase in business because the community of sign language users is close-knit.

SignRadar is about skill, talent, and the ability to communicate using sign language, and a group of private professionals with a vision to connect all sign language users around the world created it. Special thanks go to the following:
